36 Being a quadriplegic gets pretty lonely
In 2003 I was stabbed in the neck while at a house party which resulted in me being an incomplete (incomplete meaning I still have some use of my arms, and a bit of feeling and movement below the level of my injury) quadriplegic. I've always been really outgoing and social and at the time I had a huge group of friends.
After awhile most of my friends just kind of disappeared and now I have 2 that I talk to on a pretty inconsistent basis. Part of that is my fault. I was so ashamed of my broken body that I stopped socializing with people. It gets lonely though when you don't have anyone to talk to, or joke with, or just hang out in silence with, and I'd like to meet some good people to enjoy life with.
