One sided friendship? Would you still go to an event you’re invited to?

Hi all,

I’ve had a friend who I’ve known for many years. This friend and I used to hang out more often, she was a bridesmaid in my wedding. After I got married I did my best to maintain the friendship. I listened to this friend’s relationship struggles and was always there for her.

This friend got married, and changed. Took her time replying to texts, stopped initiating plans. We don’t talk much anymore and aren’t that close because of this and things have become very one sided. I took the hint. She got pregnant a few months after and let me know about her pregnancy. I wished her well, but was surprised she told me since we aren’t close anymore. She also invited me to her baby shower.

Because of her acting distant for a long time, blowing me off when I tried making plans, sounding annoyed and not showing interest in the friendship at all, I politely declined and sent a gift instead because I wasn’t comfortable going.

She never told me her baby was born either and never told me the gender. I wished her well and regardless checked in with her during her pregnancy but left her be when she didn’t share this with me. If you consider me your friend, why wouldn’t you share your baby was born? Because of her acting distant, I let it be and felt weird for reaching out.

The other day, I get an invite to her baby’s baptism. I’m not sure what to think, as I’m not sure why you would invite someone you’re no longer close to and make it clear you don’t really want to keep the friendship going. She had a boy, and I find out 5 months later from an invite... Should I go, or politely decline and send a gift? There’s def a mismatch with how our friendship stands but I’ve already kind of emotionally detached from this friendship due to her odd behavior towards me.
