Vintage/old-world enthusiast lost in time for connection with like-minded (platonic, 40s+)

I prefer to regularly connect with someone who shares this interest and is **near my age of 40s or older.** It would be nice to build a friendship or platonic companionship from this, including conversations and maybe watching stuff or sharing links, etc. I'm open to any other interests we might share as well, outside of this one. I do have a lot of other tastes and interests, they're just not the focus of this post.

Part of me has always been stuck in the past and I don’t know why. I would describe myself as a rosy retrospector and nostalgist with a sense of anemoia. I have a deep affinity for the 80s and other bygone eras I’ve never lived in before, such as Middle Ages, local era, 1920s through 1950s.

I love old music, movies, TV shows, books, aesthetics, decor, cultural elements, dynamics, and more. When viewing or experiencing something of the past, I tend to have a feel for the vibe and atmosphere, and there is something fascinating and comforting to me about it.

Sometimes I feel like I’m trapped in an eerie liminal space somewhere between the present and the past, and I look through windows into all these different times in my mind.

I feel like most people don’t get it. It would be nice to make a connection with someone who shares this interest as much as I do; it’s a pretty hard find these days. For me, this goes beyond a surface level of like … trendy cottage core aesthetic as I actually don’t fully decorate my life this way (though I would if I could), I just have a deep internal connection I feel with times of the past.

In no order, some of my favorite things are:

Classical music, 80s and 80s style music, 1920s and 50s music, black and white movies, 70s & 80s movies, old TV shows, classic literature, vintage books/book covers, old houses, old-fashioned style designs, graphics, historical places, old-fashioned way of life, and more.

I love getting lost in a good historical drama on BritBox or anywhere. I love the old romance dramas, mystery, royal reenactments, some of the old comedies, and so on. My favorite shows of all time are Dark Shadows, I Love Lucy, Golden Girls, and Mr. Bean. I have loads of favorite movies, but a few are Ghost & Mrs. Muir, Brief Encounter, Titanic, Halloween 1.
