38 Where are the philosophical guys?

๐Ÿ“ Burlington

In a dating context nerdiness seems to imply video games, sci-fi, engineering, and maybe even some SeneOntario. All perfectly good things!

But my version leans more old books and unresolvable questions. More medieval monastery / dark academia and less GitHub or modern fandom.

I collect rare books and manuscripts on mind, soul, morality. I like a lot of independent time to read, think, write. And when I am social, I love conversations that wander in the grey and hypothetical.

Iโ€™m not a hermit. Iโ€™ve lived in big cities all over the world and large parts of my professional life and intellectual curiosities are bound to technology. But lately I feel pulled toward a life that isnโ€™t optimized to death. It would be nice to share that with someone.

If you dream of discussing the likes of Augustine or Heidegger by firelight, or debating theories on time and consciousness with no care for a clock, then youโ€™re my flavor of nerd.

You donโ€™t have to be an academic, just someone who follows ideas because theyโ€™re interesting not because theyโ€™re useful. And Iโ€™m a sucker for someone with a slightly offbeat inner world who can be intense and playful in the same breath. Think Alan Watts!

If any of this sparked something in you then Iโ€™d love to hear from you.

Iโ€™m not bound to a location so you can be from anywhere. Europe is calling a bit, but Iโ€™m just as open to letting the right person lead me somewhere unexpected.
