Girl Code?

so this is just a 'what if' and i was wondering for some thoughts in case it happens.

a few months ago, me and my best friend met a guy who found his way into our friend group. my first thought was that they'd be cute together, so i told her. she kinda had a "maybeee" reaction. she has NOT said that she likes him. her brother (twin, also in our friend group) told her that he thinks the guy likes her.

after a few months of being friends, i have a feeling he likes me. (i don't like him, i actually have liked my best friends brother for a few years, she knows that).

we have a prom-esque event coming up. im pretty sure the guy is going. my best friend isn't able to make it. her brother can make it, he just probably wont. dancing isn't his thing. ANYWAY. we do some line and square dancing and other stuff too. some of those involve partnering up with a male.

to be clear, this event is not an event where people are going to bring 'dates'. and I don't find that dancing together means anything. last year i danced wuth a guy i don't like, im not even friends with, and would never date.

my question is this: would it be breaking girl code if i ended up dancing with our friend? because i have a feeling he may ask to be partners. like do i refuse or...?
